The God Referendum

First, I have a vague awareness that those who people this blog are of varying religious (or irreligious, or nonreligious, as the case may be) persuasions.

Second, my electioneering antennae are up, what with what’s going on at home and in various other parts of the world.

So I thought I might carry out a referendum of my own.

I’ve asked this question once before on this blog. But, I decided back then that I hadn’t framed it quite right so I took it down. Here it is again. Not brand new but recycled. Same old question, just wearing new clothes and sporting a different hairstyle.

If there were an election for God, what kind of candidate would you vote for?
I just want to know who's out there. And (some of) what they're thinking.

5 Other Thoughts:

a god that would give me a sign of being in office when I need him and pray for him to show up with all my heart, over and over again, like i did last time, 9 years ago

that's what came to my mind first. But actually, I might rather go for candidate B: A lazy god that doesn't influence our lives at all. Cos it's us who should clean up our shit and noone else. I can find the good decisions and I can live them. I dont want anything supernatural to support me; that would be cheating. I want it all to be my very own achievement.

Thanks, Robert. (And welcome to these parts.)

Candidate B... is that kind sorta ish ish like, no God? Or not? Just wanting to be sure...

Also, mrembo has posted her answer to this question on her blog. Check it out at http://mrembo.wordpress.com/2007/11/29/and-finally/

Probably the biblical God.

Yes, R, shortly put, that's right. I am atheist and I am not sad (any more) about not being able to believe. Being a believer really doesnt mean that one is happier, luckier or a better person, living a more meaningful life.
However, if a god is elected here, hopefully it is one with a basic understanding of morality.

I'd like one that would take away the pain.
